Alienware X51 R2 Motherboard Windows 10 Let MeThose that did get the New Windows 10 let me know what you think of the operating system and if there was any issues during instill and how is the usability.
![]() Let us know so we can all talk about it and hopefully if someone else does have a similar or same issues we all can fix it together or at least try to. Alienware X51 R2 Motherboard For Windows 10 Upgrade DellOn Dells Support I kept getting this every time I went on Dells support site even now as I type this thread: Alienware Aurora (Late 2009) Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade Dell has not confirmed that this product can upgrade to Windows 10. Some drivers, firmware, applications, and connected devices may not work as you would expect. Sucks to read that but I was not deterred by that message because I already new Microsoft gave all Windows 7, 88.1 users a month to switch back to Windows 7 or 88.1 if we felt it was not worth the upgrade or whatever the individuals feelings towards it. Anyways so I did the upgrade to Windows 10 just to test the boat out and if anything would happen I will try to fix them if it was possible and surely there was some issues. I do want to say Windows 10 is being tested as of now and as of now I didnt have any issues with downloading Windows 10 it was smooth and easy took about 45-50 minutes to fully setup. So far the only issues I have had was: ISSUE 1: The fans going on full blast (100) during initial start up and once everything was loaded and in the start menu screen the fans would still be on full blast I had to go into Command Center and manually set to a lower setting to get the fans to hush up. Once I did that the fan speed was quiet again but it was only once you where in the start menu. The moment I would power down (shutoff) or start up the Aurora all the fans run 100 full speed ahead and sometimes wouldnt even shutdown I would have to pull the power cable out the psu to shut it off scary as hell for a noob like me. I would have to restart the computer in order to get the internet to work again I would perform the troubleshoot network test and it would tell me that my local area connection is disabled, but every time I enabled it the darn thing would have a mind of its own and disable the connection while I am using the internet or not using the internet it would disable by itself and it would do it all at random time in 25 minutes, 1 hour of internet use or just 5 minutes it was really strange. I called my cable company to make sure there wasnt anything wrong with my internet they said my internet is working fine and they believed it had something to do with Windows 10 so I went to several websites Microsoft support, Asus support, forums and googled every and anything I could find for this issue and not to much was out there for this problem on the Aurora R1 but since I was not thinking straight at that time I realized Dell does have a driver update for the Broadcom either net controller so I tried it. FIX: To fix this problem I went to dell support and downloaded the latest driver which was in 2013 since the last time it was updated but oh well took a chance with this one, Broadcom 57XX Gigabit Integrated Controller link: After install no reboot required but I rebooted the computer anyways because I felt like doing it to test out my fans again and so far I havent had any problems with any of the 2 issues. At the moment Windows 10 is not to hard to use still feels almost like any other windows program from previous generations just a different Start Menu and some additions like Cortana which I havent used and other stuff I havent tried yet because I just havent had the chance to yet. I do enjoy the faster speed I get when opening appsfiles and when first turning on the Aurora it loads up a lot faster then Windows 7 which is not bad because even when I was using windows 7 it didnt felt like it was long but with W.10 it definitely had some speedy load compared to W.7 but who knows its only been 1 day so I will let you all know how it goes after a month of use. Hope this was helpful and leave a comment and tell us how your Windows 10 is doing. Ill just wait until some of the drivers get updated because from what I saw, its the new Windows 7. But you are right - they go full pelt until the Command Centre kicks in. Other than that, Ive been upgrading drivers manually over the years from the individual chipset manufacturers sites because Dell had obviously stopped posting updates for this system. In that sense, my drivers were pretty close to being completely up to date before the upgrade, which probably contributed to things being trouble free. If the Dell drivers for a particular item havent been upgraded recently, I would completely suggest going to the chipset manufacturer site and upgrading the driver from there.
